Privacy Policy
Applies to Video Collector and Image Collector · Last updated June 2026
Collector apps are built to be private by design.
- No data collection. The extensions have no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, and no ads. We do not know who you are or what you browse. We collect no personal or browsing data, so there is nothing for us to sell, share, or transfer to anyone — and we never do.
- No remote code, no remote config. All logic ships in the extension. We never fetch and run code or configuration from a server. The bundled media engine (ffmpeg.wasm) is loaded locally from the extension package.
- Everything runs locally. Detecting, filtering, downloading, remuxing, and converting media all happen on your computer. Nothing you browse or download is ever sent to us or to any third party.
- Network requests. The only network requests an extension makes are the media fetches required when you explicitly choose to download — the file, stream manifest, and stream segments are fetched directly from the sites that host them, assembled on your machine, and saved to your Downloads folder.
- DRM. Video Collector detects DRM-protected and encrypted streams (Widevine / PlayReady / FairPlay and AES-encrypted HLS/DASH) and clearly refuses them. It never attempts to circumvent, decrypt, or bypass content protection, and it never requests or handles decryption keys.
- Terms of Service — transparent refusal. On a small, documented list of hosts whose Terms of Service forbid third-party downloading (YouTube and a few other majors), the extension declines to download with an honest message rather than capturing the media. This list ships inside the extension (no remote fetch) and is consulted only by the download action — never during detection, which stays fully generic.
- Your responsibility. The extensions only surface media a page already exposes. You are responsible for downloading only content you own or are permitted to save, and for complying with each website's Terms of Service and applicable copyright law.
- Minimum permissions. Each extension requests only the permissions it needs to scan the page you opened it on, detect media as the page loads it (read-only), save files to your Downloads folder, remember your settings locally, and show its UI. Host access (all sites) is used only to read media a page already plays and, when you explicitly pick a file, to fetch it for download — never to read, modify, or transmit anything else.
- Payments. The current versions are fully free. No payment provider is active, no purchase UI exists, and no payment data is collected or processed. A one-time Pro unlock is planned for a later update; when it arrives, payments will be handled by a payment processor (we will never see or store your card details) and this policy will be updated with that release.
- No watermark. We never watermark, brand, or degrade downloaded files.
- Roadmap board. Our feature-request board (roadmap) stores only the idea text you submit. To prevent duplicate votes it records a one-way salted hash — never your raw network address, and never anything that identifies you. No account, no profile, no tracking.
- Your settings are stored in your browser's local extension storage and never leave your device.
